Packing for Your Unbridled Retreat

You won’t need a lot for your Unbridled Retreat, but it’s important to plan ahead so you’re equipped for adventures ahead. Here’s a brief guide to packing and preparing for your Unbridled Retreat!

The most important thing is to dress comfortably and bring layers for Colorado’s always-changing weather. We’ll spend mornings in the arena, so you’ll want to wear clothes that can get dirty and protect you from the sun.

Afternoons can be spent horseback riding, hiking the property, journaling by the river, and/or lounging at the pool.

Besides casual and comfortable clothes, remember to bring a great book to unwind with.

Packing…

For the Arena

  • Pair of riding or cowboy boots
  • Cowboy or baseball hat
  • Jeans
  • T-shirts
  • Long-sleeved shirts
  • Warm Jacket
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunglasses

To Unplug

  • Walking shoes/hiking boots (if you’d like to take a nature walk or hike)
  • Sandals or flip flops for lounging and pool area
  • Swim suit
  • Journal
  • Water bottle
  • Phone charger
  • Headphones
  • Yoga Clothes + mat (optional) mats are available at the ranch

For the Evenings

  • Casual dinner clothing – jeans and boots are fine!
  • A warm jacket or shawl
  • Comfortable shoes to dance in if you choose to attend the line dancing lesson

Pro Tips

  • Boots

When shopping for boots, we recommend Ariat, Justin, and Frye brands. Please keep in mind you want riding boots (not fancy dress boots!) to wear while with the horses. We recommend a low heel and make sure you have a few weeks to break them in before the retreat. We love Ariat’s Heritage Elastic Calf Western Boots.

  • Hats

When shopping for hats, we suggest a comfortable straw hat which will protect you from the sun and heat. Felt hats are also great, they just tend to be harder to pack and get dirty easily. We love Boot Barn’s selection of cowgirl hats.

Ranch Policies and Services

Food And Snacks

Sylvan Dale Ranch provides a versatile menu that will please the palates and dietary restrictions of meat lovers, vegetarians, and those who are gluten-free. Each day, you’ll receive three homestyle-cooked meals made with only quality ingredients. We’re active throughout the day, so it’s a great idea to bring your own snacks, protein bars, and Gatorade if you’d like to stock your own room. All meals and non-alcoholic beverages are included. Alcohol is available for purchase for meals and happy hour. You can BYOB and consume your own alcoholic beverages in your cabin, just not in public areas.

Wifi Connection

The Sylvan Dale Ranch experience allows you to escape distractions and we respect your need to “keep connected” with the world “beyond the ridge”. Complimentary wireless Internet is available throughout the main ranch grounds, including lodging rooms but please keep in mind cell phone service is VERY patchy. Verizon has a decent signal in certain areas; AT&T is a little trickier. The ranch’s Verizon cell phone booster provides three simultaneous lines of service. AT&T has good reception at the entry gate. Sprint, T-Mobile, and other carriers probably require a road trip into town, seven miles to the east. Our house phone in the lobby is available 24/7 with complimentary international or domestic long distance along with local calls. To receive the maximum benefit during your retreat experience, please plan to “unplug” as much as possible.

See You Soon!

We look forward to welcoming you for an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. The Unbridled Retreat is an opportunity for you to unplug, make new friends, have fun, and connect with yourself on a whole level. Get ready to become Unbridled…we’ll see you soon!
