Packing for Your Unbridled Retreat at White Stallion Ranch

You won’t need a lot for your Unbridled Retreat, but it’s important to plan ahead so you’re equipped for adventures ahead. Here’s a brief guide to packing and preparing for your Unbridled Retreat!

The most important thing is to dress comfortably. We’ll spend mornings in the arena, so you’ll want to wear clothes that can get dirty and protect you from the sun.

Afternoons can be spent horseback riding, lounging at the pool, hiking the property, e-biking, and/or rifle shooting.

Besides casual and comfortable clothes, remember to bring a great book to unwind with.

Packing…

For the Arena

  • Pair of riding or cowboy boots
  • Cowboy or baseball hat
  • Stampede strings
  • Jeans
  • T-shirts
  • Long-sleeved shirts
  • Warm Jacket
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunglasses

To Unplug

  • Walking shoes/hiking boots (if you’d like to take a nature walk or hike)
  • Sandals or flip flops for lounging and pool area
  • Swim suit
  • Journal
  • Water bottle
  • Phone charger
  • Headphones

For the Evenings

  • Casual dinner clothing – jeans and boots are fine!
  • A warm jacket or shawl
  • Comfortable shoes to dance in if you choose to attend the line dancing lesson

Pro Tips

  • Boots

When shopping for boots, we recommend Ariat, Justin, and Frye brands. Please keep in mind you want riding boots (not fancy dress boots!) to wear while with the horses. We recommend a low heel and make sure you have a few weeks to break them in before the retreat. We love Ariat’s Heritage Elastic Calf Western Boots.

  • Hats

When shopping for hats, we suggest a comfortable straw hat which will protect you from the sun and heat. Felt hats are also great, they just tend to be harder to pack and get dirty easily. We love Boot Barn’s selection of cowgirl hats.

Horseback Riding included in your Retreat Package

White Stallion Ranch owns one of the largest private herds of horses in Arizona. The ranch’s extensive riding program accommodates the experienced horse owner, the “first-time” rider and all riders in between. Horseback riding (trail riding, fast rides, slow rides, team penning, cattle sorting) is included in your retreat package and is optional during your time at the ranch.

Riding Lessons

For beginners and experienced riders alike, everyone learns from the ranch’s patient and knowledgeable wranglers. Work on improving your control and communication, learn western equitation, or overcome challenges you may be having. Riding lessons will quickly increase your confidence and improve your riding experience.

Lessons are the only riding activity with an extra charge; $20 per person for 1 hour of group instruction – (groups are typically limited to 4 guests).
